Inscription.
(South face)
Erected by the State of Connecticut and Citizens of the Town. In memory of Winchester Volunteers, who died or were killed in the War of the Rebellion, and whose bodies were not brought home for burial.

Inscribed with the names and regiments of Winchester soldiers

(North face)
Residents of Winchester whose services were credited to other towns. Bodies not brought home.

Location. 41° 55.017′ N, 73° 3.65′ W. Marker is in Winchester in Northwest Hills Region, Connecticut. It is in Winsted. It can be reached from Torrington Road south of Willow Street, on the left when traveling south. Monument is located in Forest View Cemetery. Bear right after passing the cemetery offices and continue toward the top of the hill. Monument will be on your left. Touch for map.
