1. Deep Creek Lake, Garrett County Marker
Inscription. Property of the Youghiogheny Hydro Electric Corporation of the Associated Gas and Electric System. Lake under the supervision of the Conservation Department of Maryland. The following streams flow into the lake: Deep and Cherry Creeks, North and Green Glades, Meadow Mountain, Piney, Poland, Pawn, Gravley, Marsh, Smith and Bull's Arm Runs.

Location. 39° 31.183′ N, 79° 19.753′ W. Marker is near McHenry, Maryland, in Garrett County. It is at the intersection of Garrett Highway (U.S. 219) and Mountainview Drive, on the right when traveling north on Garrett Highway. Touch for map. Regarding Deep Creek Lake. The 3900-acre Deep Creek Lake with 65 miles of shoreline is nestled in the Allegheny Mountains 2466 feet above sea level just west of the eastern continental divide. Green forested slopes rise all around to peaks in excess of 3000 feet.

In 2000, the State or Maryland purchased Deep Creek Lake from General Public Utility, Inc., the successor owner to the Youghiogheny Hydro Electric Corporation. It is now managed by the Department of Natural Resources.
