1. Site of the Annapolis City Gates Marker
Inscription. All roads leading to this provincial capital, marked AA to guide the traveler, entered the city here beside the city gate house. A wooden fence, enclosing the city, kept out wandering cattle and "men of ill fame."
 
Erected 1983 by National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Maryland, Annapolis Committee.
