3. Marker in Princeton
This 18th century Georgian house was the birthplace of Commodore William Bainbridge, a hero in the War of 1812. He commanded several famous naval vessels, including the USS Constitution (“Old Ironsides”). It is currently the home of the Historical Society of Princeton.

Princeton served as the capital of the United States from July to October 1783. During that time, delegates to the Continental Congress stayed at the Bainbridge House.
