This monument is dedicated to the souls of the
Filipino, American and Japanese, soldiers whose
lives were given in a battle which occurred here
on May 5, 1942, when our regiment of the 4th
Division landed on this island.
We ardently pray for the eternal repose of their
souls and everlasting peace throughout the world.
