Inscription. In commemoration of the gift of 303 acres of land now occupied by the city of Oil City, and located at the mouth of the Allegheny River by Thomas Mifflin, as the first Governor of Pennsylvania, to Cornplanter, Chief of the Seneca Indians on March 6, 1796.
