German-English translation:
The building was purchased in 1662 by the Ursuline Sisters as a school for girls. Partially rebuilt in 1739. The lower floor on the Löwengraben ("Lion's Ditch") side of the building contained stables, which probably was the source of the school's name. The house is still used as a school house today. The pedestrian way to the Löwengraben, called the "Donkey Walk", was installed in 1966.
A protected monument since 1964
Erected by Stadt der Luzern (City of Lucerne).
