1. Pennington Street Marker

Inscription. Named in the late 1600s after the route connecting Tucson’s Presidio with mission San Cosme de Tucson. The street was also called Calle del Arroyo, referencing the arroyo immediately south of the presidio walls. The street was renamed in 1871 to honor businessman and Arizona pioneer Elias Green Pennington (b.1809-d.1869) who used the arroyo for his saw-mill business.
