Inscription.
This typical family farmstead was in operation from 1860 to 1960. The buildings were moved from Jefferson Davis Co. in 1981 and restored through the generosity of the family, friends and county supervisors.
 
Erected 1984 by Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

Regarding Fortenberry-Parkman Farm. Visitors may have to park on the west side of the Smith-Wills Stadium parking lot and walk across one of the two walking path bridges to the museum and the marker. Visitors walking past the marker will be required to pay an entrance fee to visit the museum grounds, but it's well worth the cost for upkeep and maintenance of the historic structures.
