For the race's Centennial Celebration in 2005, the City of Long beach has dedicated Rainbow Harbor as the "Transpac Village" mainland staging base. Here competitors from across the country and overseas can interact with the public and perform last-minute preparations on their boats before starting the race off the Palos Verdes Peninsula each July during odd-numbered years.
