The last couple of paragraphs of the article notes that the previous murder in the town was that of Wilhelmina Schleiss in 1925. Schleiss, a servant, was murdered by the man by whom she was pregnant, he first having tried to shoot her, and when that failed to kill her, he used a large rock. Her murderer was executed for his crime in September, 1925.
