Inscription. Founded in 1821 at historic Carpenters' Hall by prominent apothecaries to improve the standards of pharmacy, the College was incorporated the following year. It is the oldest institution of its kind in the United States.
 
Erected 1971 by Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission.
