1. African Queen Marker
Inscription. The African Queen vessel was created in 1912 and is on the American National Historic Register. Her boiler is custom made and is historically correct and her steam engine is from 1896. She was restored in 2012 and has to be meticulously maintained in order to preserve her.

All donations are greatly appreciated and will contribute towards her preservation for generations.

Marker can be reached from Overseas Highway (U.S. 1 at milepost 100) north of Laguna Avenue, on the right when traveling north. The marker and boat are located at the Holiday Inn Docks. Driving north on US 1, a road sign on the right side indicates the turn-off for the African Queen. Touch for map. This tiny boat is dwarfed by surrounding yachts. I wouldn't go into the ocean in it, but the captain offers cruises into the choppy Atlantic, propelled by its century-old boiler.
