1. Reported Capture Location
The marker indicates the cannon was captured at Island Number 10, which was in the Mississippi River, upstream from New Madrid, Missouri, near the Kentucky / Tennessee border. Vicksburg is of course in the state of Mississippi. Since Wisconsin troops were involved with both the Battle of Island No. 10 and the Vicksburg Campaign, either location is plausible.
