1. The Ruben V. Glassell House Marker
Inscription.
Ruben T. Glassell House. Historic Site. The original house was built in 1899 by Ruben T. Glassell, a planter, and his wife Vyvian. It faced west and had a center hall in the dogtrot style. The house was enlarged about ten years later with the addition of a new roof, interior columns, fireplaces, and porches, and the south side became the front entrance. In 1953 the east porch was enclosed to form three additional rooms. In 1982 it became the home of Andrew and Linda Marino and their four children who enclosed the front porch to create a fifth bedroom and reduced the number of outside doors from thirteen to five. The house still contains much of the original antique furniture.
