19th U.S. Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 14th Corps
Regular ........September 19-20, 1863........ Brigade
Text on Left Side of the Monument:

Companies A, B, E, F, G, H, of the 1st Battalion and Company A of the 2nd Battalion, went into action towards Jay's Mill, on the left of the Brigade, at about 9 a.m. of September 19th, 1863. With a strength of 14 officers and 190 men. Company C, 1st Battalion, was detached at division head-quarters.

The regiment was engaged throughout the 20th of September, 1863, on and near this spot, until nearly 6 p.m., when it was withdrawn westward across the Lafayette Road to Rossville via McFarland's Gap.

Erected 1893 by the United States government. (Marker Number MT-1066.)

base and curved-top stone relief slab. Relief has figure of prone infantryman firing from behind a log parapet in a forest setting. Unit information in raised letters beneath the relief.”

I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this monument and the monument's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
