Regarding Historic Viola School. This one room school house was built in 1894. The building is being restored and preserved by the Viola Community Club and used for Community activities and can be rented for other events. It's rumored that the last homework assignment, from 1939, was never erased from the chalk board and remains to this day. However, a recent picture identifies a class attending the school as late as 1941.
Additional commentary.
1. Final closing date ov Viola School
The last year it was open was 1948.
My brothers both attended in 1948 and as a pre-scooler I went there on special occasions. The next year we were bused to Estacada for grade and high school.
