Location. 34° 55.237′ N, 85° 15.689′ W. Marker is near Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, in Catoosa County. It can be reached from Poe Road west of Lafayette Road, on the right when traveling south. This historical marker is located in the national park that preserves the site of the Chickamauga Battlefield, along the west side of the national park's battlefield tour roadway called Poe Road, situated alongside a trail in the woods. According to the location information provided by the National Park Service the, “Monument located within the Chickamauga Battlefield in the woods south of the Poe House Site, map site #134.”. More about this marker. According to the description information provided by the National Park Service, the monument is, “1'6" wide x 1' deep x 3' high, the marker is a rectangular block of smooth-faced Tennessee gray marble inscribed on the front. Marks the unit's position on September 20, 1863, at 11:30 a.m.”
