Lost Great Lakes Mariners
For many centuries, mariners have traversed the Great Lakes to deliver passengers and cargo, to gather fish, and to enjoy the splendid waters. This plaque is dedicated to those who lost their lives in this great water wilderness: the commercial fishermen; the sailors of the large ore carriers, cargo ships, and schooners; the pleasure boaters and sportsmen... those who never returned home from the beautiful but often treacherous waters that surround the Door Peninsula.
