Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
sponsored its first mobile health
initiative, the Mississippi Health
Project from 1935 - 1942. Dr. Dorothy
Ferebee, a member of the sorority,
was the project director.
Ida Jackson was the national
president. The project was
headquartered in Mound Bayou,
Mississippi, and served over 15,000
black residents in the delta.
