Regarding Lake Providence Confederate Monument. A larger than life-size Confederate soldier, dressed in uniform with wide brimmed hat, stands atop a tall gray and white marble shaft. In his hands he holds the barrel of a rifle. The butt of the rifle rests between his feet. Behind the soldier's proper right leg is a supporting tree stump. The sculpture is mounted on a shaft that rests on a multi-tiered base. The upper base is decorated with reliefs of crossed swords on the front and back. On either side of the base's lower section are two columns crowned by pediments and topped by two spheres. The lower base has four bottom blocks and is made of brick covered with marble.
