The McDuffie Rifles were the first volunteer company organized in Warren County and was among the first in Georgia who offered its services to defend the south. The company was named in honor of Hon. George McDuffie, who was a native of Warren County.

6. Battle of Chickamauga
Warren County soldiers of the Army of Tennessee, C.S.A., fought in the Atlanta Campaign. Three privates, James W. Hall, George Robert Wallace Hubert, and Thomas W. Neal, were killed at the Battle of Chickamauga in Northwest Georgia. This battle is depicted in the 1890 Kurtz & Allison illustration shown above.
