Regarding Battle of San Lucas Monument. This marker and monument pay tribute to the Battle of San Lucas fought here on June 29, 1871. Liberal forces under Generals Barrios and Garcia Granados defeated the last Conservative forces under President Cerna. The next day the Liberal troops marched into Guatemala City, ushering in the Liberal Revolution of 1871.
