Location. 11° 58.424′ N, 86° 5.795′ W. Marker is in Masaya. Memorial is on Calle Principal, on the right when traveling north. The marker is roughly in the center of the Central Park
Regarding Heroes of October 17, 1977. On October 17, 1977 members of the FSLN attacked the National Guard headquarters nearby in Masaya. This attack was part of the offensive which eventually led to the overthrow of Somoza Debayle in 1979.

3. Cultural Patrimony and Birthplace of the Revolution additional marker
Nearby, some steps to the north, is this additional marker which reads: En esta plaza, Masaya, fue declarada Patrimonio Cultural de la Nacion y Cuna de la Insurreccion, En sesión solemne y extraordinaria de la Asamblea Nacional al celebrarse el 150 aniversario de haber sido elevada a la categoria de ciudad el 2 de septiembre de 1989, fecha en que tambien fue la sede de los poderes del estado, Alcadia Municipal, Masaya
English: In this plaza, Masaya was declared to be Cultural Patrimony of the Nation and Birthplace of the Revolution, in solemn and extraordinary session of the National Assembly in order to celebrate the 150th anniversary of being elevated to the category of city on September 2, 1989, a date in which it was also the seat of all three branches of the State, Municipal Mayor's Office, Masaya.
