This Division at 11:15 a.m. followed Johnson's across the Lafayette Road and turning slightly to the right encountered the right of Brannan's Division folding it back upon Beatty's Brigade of Van Cleve's Division and forcing both to the rear. It advanced northwardly until checked by a counter-charge of Harker's Brigade which promptly returning from its movement toward the left formed line facing south across the path of Hood's advance. At this point General Hood was severely wounded losing a leg. McLaw's Division following in the track of Hood's passed over the latter line and after a sharp contest forced Harker back to the Snodgrass ridge. Hood's troops were not further engaged during the afternoon with the exception of the 15th Alabama Colonel W.C. Oates which joined Kershaw's Brigade and went forward with it.

I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets.
