This Brigade, the right of its Division, with Preston Smith's Brigade on its left, formed line of battle near the high ground south of this position about 10:30 a.m. It came into action on this line and drove the enemy to the high ground next northwest, capturing three guns. Here it encountered the troops of Johnson's Division about noon, and after two hours hard fighting the Brigade was withdrawn to the line from which it first advanced, and Maney's Brigade took its place. Maney was soon forced to retire to the rear of Jackson.

More about this marker. I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military
Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
