Cavalry Corps
This Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Charles B. Seidel commanding, crossed the Tennessee River at Bridgeport, September 2nd, 1863, crossing Sand Mountain, September 3rd, and Lookout Mountain, September 9th, engaging the enemy's Cavalry the same day near Alpine, and driving them toward Rome.
September 13th, participated in reconnaissance toward LaFayette, developing the enemy in force. From September 14th to September 19th, held Dougherty's Gap.
September 19th, engaged in holding fords of the Chickamauga.
September 20th, was engaged with the enemy's cavalry and infantry, near Crawfish Springs, in guarding trains.

In addition, the National Park Service reports that, "In 1966, this monument was moved 646 feet to the east side of Wilder's Brigade Monument to in advance of a road project that never happened. In 2002, it was returned to its original position."
I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
