1. Boiling Springs, South Carolina Marker
Inscription.
This bubbling spring gave the community of Boiling Springs its name. Earliest records indicate settlement in the area began around this site in the mid-1700s. Prior to that trappers stopped here as they traveled the Piedmont en route from the mountains to the coast. In the early 1900s, the spring also was a popular place for farmers to stop and water their horses on their way to and from the market.

Location. 35° 2.874′ N, 81° 59.035′ W. Marker is in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, in Spartanburg County. It is on McMillian Blvd near Boiling Springs Road (South Carolina Highway 9), on the left when traveling south. Marker is located in a small park in the eastern corner of the intersection of McMillian Blvd and Highway 9. Touch for map. 3. Boiling Springs Park
The park is difficult to see from the road. Look for three flags (U.S., S.C., and M.I.A.) marking a veteran's memorial on the eastern intersection of McMillin and Highway 8. (Its on the right when traveling north.) The Boiling Springs Park is located just behind it.
