Ector's Brigade, - Brigadier General Matthew D. Ector.
Wilson's Brigade, - Colonel Claudius C. Wilson.
Ector's Brigade crossed the Chickamauga at Byram's Ford at midnight of the 18th, and bivouacked three-quarters of a mile in advance on the road to Lee and Gordon's Mill. Wilson followed Ector and bivouacked near Byram's Ford. At 9 o'clock the 19th, Wilson's Brigade, which had then advanced to the intersection of the roads leading from Alexander's to Jay's Mill and to Lee and Gordon's Mill, was sent to the assistance of Pegram's Division of cavalry, which had been attacked near Jay's Mill by Brannan's Division of Thomas' Corps. At 9:30 o'clock Ector's Brigade was hurried to the same point, and both became heavily engaged.
