The Ahuehuete of the Querétaro River
En náhuatl ahuehuete significa "el viejo del agua", es una especie originaria de América del Norte, pueden alcanzar hasta 35 metros de altura y llegar a los más de 700 años de antigüedad. Conocido también como ciprés Moctezuma, sabino o ciprés mexicano. Fue nombrado el árbol nacional de México en 1921 cuando se conmemoraron los cien años de la Independencia de México. Su belleza, longevidad y tradición lo hace un digno guardián de nuestra historia.
Este puente conocido como "conexión río" es una prueba de la toma de decisiones responsables y oportunas ante los requerimientos de infraestructura reclamadas por la ciudadanía. Una obra urbana realizada en el año 2016 por el gobierno del estado de Querétaro, considerando además de la obra vial, áreas de esparcimiento, mejoramiento a la imagen urbana, intervención en el tramo del rio en su paso por la Colonia Calesa, así como la protección de su área natural.
Invitamos a los habitantes y visitantes de esta ciudad a cuidar y proteger este espacio urbano, así como a mantener en buen estado sus áreas verdes, ya que es un lugar de todos y para todos.

In Náhuatl ahuehuete means "the old man of the water." It is a species native to North America, can reach up to 35 meters in height and can live to be 700 years old. Also known as Moctezuma cypress, sabino or Mexican cypress, it was named the National Tree of Mexico in 1921 when the 100th anniversary of the Independence of Mexico was commemorated. Its beauty, longevity and tradition make it a worthy guardian of our history.
This bridge, known as the "river connection", is an example of the responsible and timely decisions taken that are related to the infrastructure requirements of the city’s inhabitants. An urban improvement carried out in 2016 by the Government of the State of Querétaro, it takes into account not only basic transportation needs, but also the need for recreational areas, improvement to the urban image, intervention in this section of the river as it passes through the Calesa Neighborhood, as well as the protection of the environment.
We invite the inhabitants and visitors of this city to take care of and protect this urban space, as well as to keep its green areas in good condition, since it is a place for all to enjoy.
