Macedon in Wayne County, New York — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Have You Wondered
These boxes have historical value and were used in a variety of ways. In circa 1900 they were used on Onondaga Lake, Syracuse, NY for oil barges to tie up to while waiting to unload the oil for transport to other locations. They were later brought to this location to catch debris before it reached the route 350 catch gate in the Old Erie Canal to your left.
If you know of any other uses, please contact the Erie Canal Museum at www.eriecanalmuseum.org. or 315-471-0593. Let the historian know so, this great piece of history will not be lost.
In order to preserve the history of these boxes, do not sit, climb or stand on them. Thank you.
