1. County Named, 1810 Marker

Inscription. For Gen. Richard Butler, b. 1743, Ireland. Came to America, 1760. Officer during Revolutionary War. Indian agent, 1784; Supt. Indian Affairs for Northern Dist., 1785. With Geo. Rogers Clark negotiated Indian treaty, 1786. As Maj. Gen., second in command, was killed on St. Clair's expedition against Indians into Ohio country, 1791. Butler out of Logan, Ohio counties.

Erected 1965 by the Kentucky Historical Society, Kentucky Department of Highways. (Marker Number 822.)
