1. Billie Bowlegs III Marker
Inscription.  In the Ortona cemetery, eight miles west of here, lie the remains of a noble citizen of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, a faithful representative of his people and a true friend of the white man.
 
Erected 2008 by Polk County Historical Commission and the Seminole Tribe.
 
Location. 26° 49.967′ N, 81° 11.224′ W. Marker is in Moore Haven, Florida, in Glades County. Marker is on State Road 78 south of U.S. 27, on the right when traveling west. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: Moore Haven FL 33471, United States of America. Touch for directions.

He renamed himself Billie Bowlegs III after the great warrior chief of the 2nd and 3rd Seminole Wars. He served as an important elder and historian.
