1. On This Triangle of Land. Marker

Inscription. On this triangle of land between the rivers, Indian forces under Chiefs Little Turtle (Miami) and Blue Jacket (Shawnee) surrounded and attacked General Arthur St. Clair's troops on November 4, 1791. Of his 1,300 soldiers, well over half were killed or wounded. It was the worst defeat ever inflicted upon the U.S. Army. This battle had worldwide repercussions and led to the first Congressional investigation in the nation's history.
