September 19th, 1863, a part of the Battery with General Beatty's Command engaged the enemy at Glass' Mill till 2:00 P.M. when the whole Battery moved to this field, and late in the day fired ten rounds of canister from a hill south of Dyer's House.

September 20th, near 12:00 M. opened fire from this position and and maintained it for a short time.

September 21st, was in position near Rossville firing at the enemy.

Loss, 4 wounded.

Battlefield, on a hill in the north east corner of Dyer Field. Parking is available where the Vittetoe Road is blocked to cars and becomes a park trail. The tablet is also visible to the west of the parking area for the South Carolina State Monument that is off the Glenn-Kelly Road. According to the location information provided by the National Park Service the monument is, "... located within the Chickamauga Battlefield near the South Carolina Monument, map site #168.”. on a two-step base. Top step and shaft have raised lettering; bronze state seal is set in rock-faced panel at top.” The National Park Service also identifies C. H. Niehaus as being the sculptor of this monument.

I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this monument and the monument's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
