Inscription. Confederate senator, 1862-64, and attorney general, 1864-65. Home was 2 blocks E.; grave is ½ mile northeast.
 
Erected 1993 by Division of Archives and History. (Marker Number D 36.)
 
Location. 34° 13.977′ N, 77° 56.752′ W. Marker is in Wilmington, North Carolina, in New Hanover County.
