On the grounds of Plant Park, near downtown Tampa
Nosti portrayed Narvaez as he was greeted by a delegation of make-believe Indians.

Mayor Mckay called de Narváez's landing 'an event of tremendous importance in the advance of civilization,' and declared, 'The Spanish people have been leading factors since the beginning of Tampa’s progress.'

The Spanish consul, Javier Meruendano, referred to de Narvaez as a 'heroic explorer...an outstanding figure among conquerors, navigators and missionaries.' He conveyed greetings from King Alfonso XIII of Spain."
