1. Custer Elm Marker
Inscription.
General George A. Custer and an element of the 7th Cavalry camped beneath this tree in 1867. The south portion of this park is part of a 120-acre farm bought by General Custer and Amos Kimball in 1869.
 
Erected by Council Grove Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
 
Location. 38° 39.35′ N, 96° 29.304′ W. Marker is in Council Grove, Kansas, in Morris County. Marker is at the intersection of Neosho Street (State Highway 177) and Elm Street, on the right when traveling south on Neosho Street. Touch for map. Marker is in Custer Elm Park.
