1. Tabernacle Marker
Inscription. 1.8 miles. This community was settled in 1826 by the Rev. Howell Taylor and his five sons. Haywood County's first schoolhouse was here; it also served as a church. The Taylor Kinfolks Camp Meeting was held here annually for over a century.
 
Erected by Tennessee Historical Commission. (Marker Number 4D 24.)
 
Location. 35° 37.871′ N, 89° 12.39′ W. Marker is near Brownsville, Tennessee, in Haywood County. Marker is at the intersection of US 79 (Tennessee Route 76) and Tabernacle Road, on the right when traveling south on US 79. Touch for map.
