The Kinder Farmhouse
This house has served as the heartbeat of the farm for over 50 years and in 1979 Henry Kinder's sons, Edward, Henry Jr., Albert and Augustus sold the 288 acre parcel of land, including the farmhouse to the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks. The land would keep the family's name as Kinder Park Farm.
Only the first floor, which originally consisted of four rooms: a living room, kitchen, dining room, and a bedroom/children's playroom have been restored. The only addition is a small pantry between the dining room and kitchen. Generally all the furnishings in the house have been donated and are representative of items that might have been found in a home during the Depression and World War II years. There are some original items and a few replicas of Kinder family items on display in the house including many Kinder family photos.
The farmhouse served as the park offices until 2010 when they were moved into the Visitors Center. In 2011 the Friends of Kinder Farm Park and the Anne Arundel County Department Recreation and Parks kicked off a multi-year project to restore the first floor of the farmhouse.
