Convento Franciscano de San Gabriel Arcángel
Esta iglesia es uno de los templos más antiguos de México, su fundación se remonta al año de 1540. Está formado por una nave alargada y dividida en varios tramos, cubierta con bóvedas de estilo gótico. La portada principal ha cambiado con el paso del tiempo de su trazo original. Fue concluida y dedicada el 30 de abril de 1552 por el Ilustrísimo Fray Martín de Hoja Castro.

English:
This church is one of the oldest temples in Mexico, its foundation dates back from 1540. It consists of a long hall divided into several sections, covered with Gothic vaults. The main entrance has changed over time of its original layout. It was completed and dedicated on April 30, 1552 by the illustrious Fray Martin de Hojacastro.

La Provincia del Santo Evangelio y la Universidad de Las Americas-Puebla, mediante el convenio firmado el 17 de mayo de 1991 y modificado el 9 de diciembre de 1997, crearon la Biblioteca Franciscana y el Centro de Estudios Humanísticos
Fray Bernardino de Sahagun en este Convento de San Gabriel, fundado alrededor de 1529, ambas instituciones agradecen el apoyo económico adicional de Fomento Cultural Banamex, World Monuments Fund, Volkswagen de Mexico, Adopte una Obra de Arte y el apoyo técnico de la Biblioteca Nacional de Antropologia del INAH. These two additional buildings are attached to the convent and extend towards the north. On the left is the Capilla Real o de Naturales (Royal Chapel or Chapel of the Natives). The smaller chapel to the right is the Capilla de la Tercera Orden (Chapel of the Third Order).

This 2012 marker is to the left of the main entryway to the Capilla Real and describes the efforts to restore the Capilla after a June 15, 1999 earthquake. It reads:
