1. Sally Pollock-Cook-High Marker
Inscription.  She was a spy for the Confederate army during the Civil War. On April 12, 1864 she was charged with violating the laws of war when letters addressed to Gen. Robert E. Lee and President Jefferson were found on this great Confederate sympathizer. She was sent to a Union penitentiary in Pittsburgh PA until the end of the war. In 1869 she married Walter Cook and had two children Katie and Walter. Her husband died in 1870. In 1872 she married Jacob Daniel High. They had three children Daniel Lee, Etta H and Ella C.

Location. 39° 35.229′ N, 78° 45.409′ W. Marker is in North Branch, Maryland, in Allegany County. Marker can be reached from River Road SE 1.1 miles south of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Roadd SE, on the left when traveling west. The marker is located in the Pollock Cemetery. It can be reached via a dirt road
