2. The Route of the Insurgents Marker
The statue topping the monument shows an idealized version of a Mexican insurgent. The figure is carrying a wooden pole and has irregular clothing (i.e. one pant leg rolled up, no shoes, etc.), all indicating that the insurgents were common people ready to fight for independence.
