Calle 60 x 61 No. 500En lo profundo de los muros de Mérida se pueden descubrir las piedras labradas que en este mismo Centro Histórico levantaron – desde el siglo III a.C. hasta el siglo XVI de nuestra era – las paredes de los templos y palacios de una de las ciudades ás importantes del Mayab antiguo: T’Hó or Tihó, centro de la comarco de Ichchanzichó.

Las entrañas de los muros de la casa Pedz Balam son un ejemplo de la reutilización de aquellos bloques mayas, colocados con el mismo sistema constructivo prehispánico, para levantar los edificios de lo que hoy es el Centro Histórico de Mérida.

Street 60 by 61 Number 500In the depth of the walls of Mérida, one still can discover carved rock foundations built in the Historic Downtown area between the 3rd century BC and the 16th century of our era. These are the walls of temples and palaces of one of the most important cities of the ancient Mayab: T’Hó o Tihó, center of the region of Ichcanzihó.

The insides of the walls in the Pedz Balam house are an example of the reuse of those Mayan blocks, placed with the same pre-Hispanic construction
