Regarding The Royal Bank of Guanajuato. The Royal Banks of Mexico were the places where gold, precious stones, silver, money, and other goods that resulted from Native American tributes, seizures, tithes and other payments were deposited and safeguarded. The deposits were used for the production and coinage of gold and silver used for the payment of royalties, deposits and debts of the Spanish Crown. The first Royal Bank was created in Mexico City in 1521.

2. An additional marker on the ex-Royal Bank
It is no surprise that the Royal Bank would have been taken over by Insurgents during the fight for Mexican Independence. This additional marker reads:
En esta casa nombro Hidalgo
las primeras autoridades
de México, emanadas de la
Revolución de Independencia.
English translation:
In this house Hidalgo named the first authorities of Mexico following the revolution of Independence.
