ahora de San Francisco. Desde su
construcción a mediados del siglo XVIII,
hasta el 9 de sep. de 1828, este templo perteneció
al clero secular y se llamó de San Juan
Bautista, y en esa fecha pasó a la orden
Franciscana con el nombre actual.

English translation:
The Temple of San Juan Bautista, now called San Francisco. Since its construction during the middle of the 18th century until September 9, 1828, this temple belonged to the secular clergy and was called San Juan Bautista (St. John the Baptist). In that year it passed over to the Franciscan Order with its current name.

In this place was the convent of San Francisco, whose land was donated by the Governor Pedro Luciano de Otero. The construction of the building cost 13,654 pesos and it was completed on September 15, 1792.
