Siglos después del abandono de Teotihuacan, los mexicas fueron atraídos y asombrados por la presencia de construcciones que según ellos, habían sido creadas por los dioses. Incluso hicieron peregrinaciones a esta ciudad y realizaron excavaciones para obtener objetos que posteriormente fueron depositados en las ofrendas de su Templo Mayor en la ciudad de México-Tenochtitlan.

Centuries later, the Mexica came to Teotihuacan and were astonished by the presence of buildings that, according to them, had been created by the gods. They even made pilgrimages to this city and made excavations looking for objects that were subsequently deposited as offerings in their Templo Mayor (“Great Temple”) in their capital city of Tenochtitlan, which is now Mexico City.
