Centuries later, the Mexica came to Teotihuacan and were astonished by the presence of buildings that, according to them, had been created by the gods. They even made pilgrimages to this city and made excavations looking for objects that were subsequently deposited as offerings in their Templo Mayor (“Great Temple”) in their capital city of Tenochtitlan, which is now Mexico City.
