Part of the Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve with 23,000 acres of wetlands. Park was created in 1978 due to persistence of educator and environmentalist Frank John Ehret, Jr.
 
Erected 2015 by Jefferson Parish Historical Commission.
