Inscription. A burial mound at Rose Hill Cemetery contains the remains of more than 100 Confederate soldiers. Nebraska Carter Read also rests here alongside her husband, Lieutenant Charles W. Read, the "John Paul Jones of the Confederate Navy."
 
Erected 2014 by the Meridian/Lauderdale County Tourism Bureau. (Marker Number 4.)
