Christ, Redeemer of the World, is expressed in the carved cross in the atrium.
The Twelve Franciscans,
come to America in 1524, are symbolized by the designs on the arms and top of the cross.
The Ten Commandments,
represented on the trunk of the cross, represents the evangelization that
Friar Alonso de Rangel
brought to Tula in 1529.
